Take a peek into our learning space! Though we are home-based, our basement has been converted into a learning space specifically dedicated to preschool. Books and other items that align with the current interests of the children are rotated frequently to keep their curiosity growing. Children have open access to art supplies and playdough materials. Our home has a large, covered deck along with a spacious, fenced yard. We have a garden and outdoor play space as well as a playground nearby. We believe in the joy of process art, which is art that focuses more on the process than the end result. Their art always looks different because each child is different! We offer a large variety of age-appropriate toys and learning materials that allow for open-ended use. Books, books, books! We have books available in all spaces in the preschool and we even take them outside! Their hands-on math explorations always leave me in awe! Our light table is always a place for discovery and new questions! Fine motor activities are critical in the early childhood years. We offer many opportunities for children to work on strengthening fine motor skills. Practicing mark making and writing skills while playing = high engagement! Our activities are often focused on the things around us that are seasonal. We also follow the interests of the children. Our art explorations are often messy! Children receive important sensory input through interacting with art materials in this manner. We often take our art explorations outside so we can enjoy creating in the fresh air. Sensory play is high on the list of usual activities, both inside and out! We try to go outside as much as possible. Spring rains won't keep us inside! There are several spaces on our premises that are open for the children to dig and garden. We have a large raised bed specifically for preschool use which offers so many opportunities for scientific exploration!
