Hi, I’m Kayla, owner of Little Lilac Preschool. I’ve been in the education field for 22 years and it’s definitely my life’s calling!

Little Lilac Preschool was a dream that started in my heart many years ago and has now become a reality. I’ve spent 20 years of my career with the early childhood age group, both in center-based childcare and the Pre-K classroom setting. I also hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood from Towson University.

I believe that children learn best through play. I believe that children thrive when they are given opportunities to follow their interests. I believe children need experiences rich in art and music. I believe children need lots of time to move and be active. I believe that outdoor time is necessary and builds curiosity. I believe that children need time to be in community with others as they learn to navigate the world. I believe children are washable and it’s ok to get dirty! I believe children need to feel safe and respected by the adults in their life. I believe in HONORING children and these valuable early years.

I grew up on a farm and spent many happy hours playing outside with my brother near our lilac trees. This was the inspiration for our preschool name.
